Inversion Workshop

Come join me on April 22nd at Zen Yoga Garage to explore Sirsasana (headstand), Adho Mukha Vksasana (handstand), Pincha mayurasana(forearm stand), and Sarvangasana (shoulder stand). 

At this workshop we will address proper alignment techniques to safely and effectively work towards embodying these inversions successfully. This workshop is accessible for all levels. Come with an open mind to experience the benefits of being upside down.

This workshop will include guided meditations to visual the chakras and a 90 minute asana practice to evoke a deeper connection physically to the chakras. Our aim for the night is to connect from the root of the body all the way to the crown of the head.

Sequencing & Alignment Focus Workshops with Nick Florino and Christina Corso

Take some time to learn the alignment principles of your favorite yoga poses, and learn to love the ones you avoid! Deeply learn the alignment principles of Iyengar yoga and apply them to your yoga practice to heal injuries quicker, see results faster, and make the poses easier and more enjoyable!

Nick and Christina will create a safe environment to learn and grow. They will start by leading you though a warm up flow, followed with an in-depth break down and practice of the alignment of your yoga poses. They will explain the alignment of each pose in a way that all yoga practitioners, no matter what level or condition, will understand and be able to walk away with great knowledge and clarity that will serve you for the rest of there yogic lives. According to the late B.K.S. Iyengar, there are many different effects/benefits of each pose. These include positive physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual healing and growth. BUT, you have to actually do the poses in proper alignment to receive the full range of benefits of each posture. All this means is aligning your bones and using the muscles of your body properly to achieve the healing and energetic power of each posture. This includes learning how and when to use yoga props and the wall. You will walk away from each class with great knowledge and power!

Christina and Nick both have been teaching yoga all around Chicago since 2010. Both have well over 500+ hours studying with their alignment based teachers Sara Strother here in Chicago and Noah Maze in Los Angeles California. Both are deeply influenced by the teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar who wrote the book Light On Yoga which shows and describes over 500 yoga postures.

Reveal from within: Backbending

If you think about it the only time we ever bend over backwards is when we fall unless you are doing yoga. We can hold ourselves back when backbending because of fear that has been instilled inside of ourselves. This is a practice to feel safe in your body. We will incorporate a variety of techniques to work on beginner up to advanced backbending. Come with an open heart and open mind to explore bending over backwards. 

All levels are welcomed but one must be open to working on your hands, head, and feet. $18 Drop-in

Hold nothing back: Inversions and Arm-Balancing

We will look strongly at Adho Mukha Vrksasana (Handstand), Pincha Mayurasana (Forearm balance), Sirsasana a+B (Traditional headstand, Tripod headstand) Through this process we will incorporate variations and ways to play on our hands while upside down.

Grow your practice: Sequencing Tips

Are you looking to create a new personal at-home yoga practice or to improve your current practice? Come ready with a notebook and pen to discuss tips in sequencing strategies. This session is meant for anyone who wants to deepen his or her practice/and or teaching techniques. Briefly we will focus on sequencing techniques that can be added to a home practice or a public class. This will then be followed up by a strong practice incorporating techniques focused on during the sequencing lecture.
